The Rotary movement lost one of its most enthusiastic members with the unexpected passing of Frank Fiocco in a cycling accident on 14 September 2017.
Frank Fiocco had been an integral member of the Rotary Club of Northbridge since 2009. In that time, he held the positions of Secretary, Sergeant at Arms and was our current Vocational Director.
Frank was a key member of our Rotary Italian Car Day fundraising event each year, and he always took on the task to help promote the event and involve Italian businesses and car owners. He was a very positive, enthusiastic and passionate man who gave 100% effort to everything he did. He embodied the values of Rotary and loved being able to give back to our community.
One of Frank’s other passions was motor racing. He was an active member of various car clubs and held various roles as a senior official; he was the race starter at Barbagallo Raceway for many years and was involved in the training and mentoring of many motor sport officials in WA.
His expertise as an official was recognised when he was invited to officiate at the Australian Grand Prix, the Clipsal 500 V8 Supercars race in Adelaide, and the Formula One Grand Prix in Singapore. Being of Italian heritage, one of Frank’s proudest moments in motor sport was officiating at the Italian Grand Prix at Monza, and he often spoke of his experiences officiating in top-level motor racing.
Frank’s fellow Rotarians and friends send their deepest condolences to his wife, Lucia, and daughter, Mia. We know that family was everything to Frank and he could not have been prouder nor more in love. Frank was a true gentleman who lived life to the fullest, and he will be sorely missed in this club.
Saluti a Frank.
